Triple-deckers, student rentals and family homes on the hills

The South Side, south of the river around Moody Street, is packed with triple-deckers and two-families on small lots. Many are owner-occupied on one floor with tenants on the others, and the front stairs and hallways are shared by everyone. Kitchens in these units work hard, bathrooms are small and often windowless, and grease, soap scum and mildew build up fast.
